Gunnison
Downtown Gunnison has interesting shops and is home to several must-see outdoor spaces. You’ll find a variety of restaurants, too. Tuck that up your sleeve for later in the day, after you enjoyed:
- Some of the 750 miles of singletrack trails in the surrounding area!
- The Black Canyon of the Gunnison
- The Curecanti National Recreation Area
Have your camera ready for the trails and for the overlook spots along the paved roads that run along the South Rim of the Black Canyon. No matter the season, the views are amazing!

The West Elk Loop Scenic and Historic Byway is for wilderness lovers. Soak up the colorful Colorado experience of Kebler Pass, known for “colorful Quaking aspen trees” in early autumn. See the goods in the stores and savor the cuisine in the local restaurants that line the downtown street.

Say, consider bringing your friends and extended family. Those that don’t have an RV can enjoy the cabins, or they can chillax in a covered wagon where the canvas tent keeps them cozy while they so clearly hear the song birds up in the trees.
Tall Texan is kid friendly with places for them to play, nature for them to explore with you, and a little fishing to be learned. Remember, it’s a quick walk to the Gunnison River, so fishing is basically at your doorstep!!
