HISTORY:
The San Isabel Lodging has a long history.
The dam for San Isabel Lake was started in 1936 and completed in 1939. Upon completion, the dam was reported to be the largest earthen dam in the world. This area was also designed and created to be one of the first recreational areas in Colorado. In those early days, the Lodge at San Isabel was the mess hall for the CC camp workers.
TODAY:
People from all over the world visit Lake San Isabel for camping, fishing, backpacking, biking, canoeing, wildlife viewing and picnicking.
Summer temperatures of 80 degrees drop to cool evenings and nights. You will be able to explore the Wet Mountains and the 1.6 million acres San Isabel National Forest and Wilderness area. There’s about 300 days a year of sunshine and breathtaking mountain landscapes the high country of Southern Colorado playground.
Come to The Lodge at San Isabel, in Rye Colorado. It’s a great place to get away from it all to spend time with family and friends.
